An Inadequate Introduction

Hello, my name is Susie. I have been studying in Buenos Aires for the past three weeks and have decided, after hours of contemplation, that I would like to start a blog about my experiences here. I will post about the past few weeks shortly and then move on to weekly posts as they happen.

Blogging is an unsettling venture. Will anyone read what I write (notable exception: my mom who told me to start this and will HAVE to read this) or will anyone care about what I do on my travels? Perhaps... as I would like to keep up with friends and family back home more frequently while simultaneously living life to the fullest here. I am open to trying this blog until it becomes blatantly clear that there is no audience. Maybe one day, this blog can even help some other university student with tips on how to survive while studying abroad. I am entirely grateful for all the advice I received prior to and during the first few weeks of my stay. I would never have survived without that kindness.

Some background about me: I am 20 years old and I live/go to school in Chicago, IL, United States of America. I major in English and International Studies; I plan to become an English teacher after graduation. I also love working with kids. In high school, I studied abroad briefly at Oxford University in England. My interests include hanging out with my hilarious family, reading, crying over television shows, experiencing new things, and Harry Potter. Now that the most generic background paragraph I could write is over, I will end this introductory post with a quote I love from the film "Up" which is the inspiration for the title of this blog:
